but we have established partnerships with other companies in the
industry that rely on our resources to help them manage peaks and
troughs in workloads. We also have a number of clients that
we call "virtual software houses", companies who understand their
target markets and sell software products to them, but have no
technical skills in house, preferring to outsource to MSM to
benefit from specialist technical knowledge.
Alternatively IT companies seek our expertise to supplement
areas of their own knowledge.
Current Projects:
Quickstep are
themselves a software house selling online assessment systems to
further education colleges and others. The colleges use it to
administer the portfolios of evidence required for each candidate
on courses such as NVQs. Assessors, verifiers and awarding bodies
can all access the system, reducing the administration workload of
awarding NVQs and making it easier to track the evidence and
candidates' progress. There is an online PDA version available to
select users for more efficient assessment. Candidates can connect
from home. Our business consultancy persuaded Quickstep to start
charging on a per student basis rather than per college. We also

Other Sectors
Overall MSM's experience from the key industries verticals has
allowed us to deliver for a diverse range of clients across various
business sectors such as logistics, public sector, Security
companies and the travel & tourism industry. The core
contributing factor for our ability to work with almost any sector
is that our software is design specifically for the needs of our
clients.
Current Projects:
Higgs International Publishing Logistics: Higgs
are a subsidiary of DHL providing worldwide logistics management of
newspaper and magazine printed media for titles such as The Sunday
Times and FHM. Based on the strength of our Delphi team we
took over support of their existing Delphi applications after
another supplier withdrew support, and quickly stabilised them by
offering a better support SLA.
Higgs have been so impressed with us that we are now
redeveloping the whole application for them to add functionality
and use modern technologies, a risk that they were unprepared to
take before they found MSM.
West Country Cottages have the biggest network
of private landlords for holiday cottages in the South West. Their
existing website was very popular but did not incorporate an online
availability check. We therefore built new functionality into their
existing website by integrating to their existing backoffice
system. Bookings are significantly up since the availability check
went live.
