.Net and Java development skills gap

25 January 2011 by Administrator

This week Computer Weekly reported a continued surge in the UK IT jobs market at the end of last year. This high demand reached a six-month high for permanent employees and has caused a shortage in some software development skills.

Research by KPMG and the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) identified skills shortages for temporary. Net development and Java development roles. As the skills shortage bites for .Net and Java developers, many businesses will turn to software outsourcing companies - like MSM Software - to plug the gap and fill these specialist developer roles.

The private sector was largely responsible for this surge in demand for IT jobs in December 2010.  The impact of the government cutbacks in the public sector remains to be seen. However, outsourcing will no doubt continue to be a key strategy for combating both surges in specialist IT skills and reducing IT cost in the public sector.
